Gaza: The death of foreign aid workers in the Israeli attack, the European Union demands an investigation

After the Israeli airstrike in central Gaza killed 7 aid workers of the foreign NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK), the European Union demanded an investigation into the attack, while Australia, Great Britain, Poland, Spain, and many other countries blamed it. US-based aid group World Central Kitchen (WCK) confirmed on April 2 that its staff members were killed in a “targeted attack” by the Israeli army in Gaza.

The dead aid workers belong to Palestine, Australia, Poland, and the United Kingdom, while they also include workers with dual citizenship in the United States and Canada. The aid workers were traveling in a convoy of 3 vehicles bearing the logo of ‘WCK’. This thing has also been mentioned in the statement.

In a statement, Palestinian organizations who provide resistance to the people of Gaza said that the purpose of this attack is to intimidate the aid workers and an effort to stop them from their work. The WCK called on Israel to stop the “indiscriminate killing” in Gaza and announced that it was halting its aid operations in Gaza.

Demand an investigation:

The European Union called for an investigation into the attack on Palestinian aid workers in Gaza.

EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell paid tribute to the volunteers killed in the Israeli airstrike, calling for immediate implementation of Security Council resolutions on ceasefire, humanitarian access, and protection of civilians.

The European Union is very upset and it has strongly condemned the tragic deaths of foreign aid workers who died in the Israeli attack on Gaza. They want to know exactly what happened in the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the deaths. This is important to make sure because such an injury is important to ensure justice and to prevent something like this from happening again.

Expression of regret/condemnation:

On the other hand, US President Joe Biden said that he regrets the death of aid workers. Joe Biden did not condemn the killings of aid workers but said Israel had not taken sufficient measures to protect aid workers and civilians in Gaza.

Apart from this, other countries including Australia, Great Britain, Poland, and Spain expressed regret over the incident and demanded an investigation.

Israel’s response:

On the other hand, the Israeli army said that it is investigating to understand the circumstances of the incident fully. Hours after the incident, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the attack was unintentional.

Such incidents happen in times of war, we are thoroughly investigating the matter, are in touch with the governments of the foreign nationals of the deceased, and are struggling to take action against them to avoid further incidents from happening again, he said. Actions will be taken.

Hamas’ response:

In a statement, Palestinian organizations who provide resistance to the people of Gaza said that the purpose of this attack is to intimidate the aid workers and an effort to stop them from their work.
